August 15, 2005 - Navigator docking

The ship is very large and it's most impressive that the captain and his crew can dock the huge vessel with such apparent ease. With the latest equipment and the crew's experience, the docking of the ship was done quickly and safely.

In addition to the commanding view the captain has from the flying bridge, the ship has other vantage points to help with docking. Do notice how the bridge extends to the side of the ship for a better view below. And also, notice the door (hatch) which is folded out from the lower hull at the front of the ship. This vantage point is used to communicate with personnel on the dock regarding securing the large ropes (hawsers) from the ship to the dock.

During the cruise and at different ports of call, the ship docked in any direction, facing the sea or the city, with the port or starboard side of the ship nestled against the dock. And impressively, the docking of the ship was done in a matter of minutes and soon the ship's passengers began to disembark for a day of sightseeing.
