Puerto Rico has the unique status of being the Commonwealth of the United States. Being a U.S. possession, the island affords the location of a major U.S. Coast Guard station, shown in this photograph.
Old San Juan is located behind the station in this photograph and still further in the distance is the newer San Juan.
