Finally! The moment everyone was waiting for. The ship took in its ropes (hawsers) which held it firm to the dock, started its engines, and slowly moved away from the dock and into the channel leading out into the Atlantic Ocean. Many of the passengers were topside to witness the event and take pictures to record their trip.
