After lunch we boarded our bus for a four hour drive to Marrakech and an overnight stay. Marrakech is the capital of southern Morocco and plays host to thousands of visitors each year, probably attracted to the "souks" (ancient bazaars) and the myth and mystery which persist about the city.
The landscape along the highway to Marrakechis mostly barren but can be farmed given the spring rains. The hills were described as being a carpet of green during the wet growing season. At most, all we saw were ochards along the way, with trees bearing persimmons or other fruit native to this region. Shown here is a fruit stand outside a rest stop we used midway to Marrakech.
