Many of the ship's crew had their cabins on the bow, either on the Promenade deck or one deck below. The deck hands crew was made up of both men and women. The bow area was restricted for passengers (to my disappointment) and was used as a work space during the day. Many ropes were repaired on deck, and the ongoing maintenance of staining wood items was done on the bow.
Among my pictures and text on this web site, I will show the crew at work, performing maintenance, manning the ropes to raise or lower sails, or preparing the ship for docking at the ports we visited. The crew earned their keep on this voyage.
