November 7, 2005 - A view of Granada's old city

All of Granada can be seen from Alhambra, which sits up on a high hill overlooking the city. Looking straight ahead, one would see the newer city center, but looking off to the right, towards Generalife, one would see an area of Granada referred to as the 'old city'.

On the morning of this sunny day, I was out early and took a walk on a stone path, down off Alhambra and into the old city neighorhoods. I took several photos to remind myself how Alhambra looks from below the high hill.

Being the natural wanderer, I thought certainly I could find a road or path that would take me back up to Alhambra and the nearby Palace hotel. Wrong! After assessing my situation, I decided to take a taxi to the top of the hill. The taxi driver was polite, drove one block and then up a very straight road which took us to the hotel's front door. I tipped him generously. Had I known that that street would go directly to the hotel I would have continued my morning's walk.
