The facade of the Comares Palace greets you as you enter the palace itself. As with most courtyards and rooms throughout Alhambra, the facade is elaborately decorated. The small fountain in the center brings water to the courtyard. Muslims and Islam consider water sacred and the origin of life. The decorated walls have numerous inscriptions which provide some insight as to Islamic life and beliefs.
