Granted, this was the capital of Mongolia, so one would expect the best of things, but still I would describe the museum at Ulaan Baatar as being one of the best museum we visited during our trip. Even a subject such as clothing was presented comprehensively, as you can see from this photograph.
Photography was actually prohibited in this museum so after sneaking just one photograph I thought I would abide by their rule. Throughout Siberia I found very few books, of any size and kind, written in English, that would illustrate and explain (document) the site we visited. I suppose the answer is that the Russian/Siberian people have not seen enough English speaking visitors (yet) to justify publishing tourist oriented books in different languages. Sad.
