July 25, 2006 - Monastery use of yurts

Yurts (or gers) are common throughout Mongolia. The round structure can be of any size and their primary characteristic is that they can be erected quickly. Mongolian nomads who travel with the weather and time of year use yurts because they can be assembled/disassembled and trasported easily. Yurts can be insulated to deal with the harsh winter months in the country.
