To reach Ulaan Baatar, our train had to stop for both Russian customs as well as Mongolian customs. These were not expedious procedures. And, on top of that, the timing was less than desirable. We cleared the customs stations late in the day and it was 1:30AM before I could turn off the lights and go to sleep. The paper work wasn't the easiest to deal with either, some forms being in Russian. Rots of ruck, as the saying goes.
