July 22, 2006 - "CICS" in Siberia

I left my CICS sign up for several days, again 'testing' to see who might ask about it. Understandably, the Russians did not speak to me about this (I was pleased that the car attendants let me leave the sign propped up against the window). But, slowly, fellow passengers might ask, and then had a short talk on what it was that I did while working for IBM. The Customer Information Control System (CICS) is the world's most widely used 'transaction processor' helping companies run their business.
