The train station was originally built in 1912 and has been renovated a number of times during the ensuing years making it a modern functioning facility. The interior walls and ceilings have artistic murals that tell the story of Russia. The exterior of the building preserves its early 1900s architecture. Well done.
Our group had lunch at the train station in its fabulous restaurant. We did more touring of the city and later in the afternoon boarded the Trans-Siberian Express train for our journey across Siberia and western Russia.
