Isamal is a quiet town located about 70km east of Merida (another bus ride). The town is nicknamed Cuidad Amarilla because of the many building painted yellow (aka The Yellow City). At the town centre, you will find the Convento de San Antonio Padua, a 16th century convent and monastery. Our program leaders gave us many suggestions for photos which would capture not only the architecture of the old buildings but the presence of the yellow color just about everywhere.
