On this day, we were up and out the door early for our photo shoot at the village market in the town of Oxkutzcab (my, what interesting names they have on the Yucatan Peninsula. The three wheeled bike shown in the photo is a very popular means of transportation in the village taking people and or merchandise to their destination. Some of the bikes were quite old and rusty but still doing productive, meaningful work. Other bikes were newer, and the newer ones were used like taxis to get people to where they were going. The open bay in front of the driver can be adapted to many kinds of use. Well done.
Oxkutzcab is located about 75 miles south of our hotel base in Merida. We had lunch in the area and then spent the afternoon visiting the tenth century Maya city of Uxmal
