January 20, 2008 - Maya: A photographic expedition

The Maya: a civilization that knew glory and then ruin. Strange as it may seem, with my living in Nevada, that until now I had not previously been to Mexico. Apparently, I found many other countries and locations of greater interest to me. But when the National Geographic Society (NGS) announced a photographic expedition at the Yucatan Peninsula and among notable Maya archaeological sites, I knew that this was the trip for me.

The trip combined my love of phototography, under the tutelage of a professional NGS photographer, and the sheer interest in an early civilization. It was a facinating trip.
