Oddly, there are direct flights from my home location (Reno/Sparks, Nevada) to Cancun, Mexico, but none at times that were convenient to me. So, I chose an itinerary that took me from Reno to Dallas and then to Cancun, and the reverse for the return trip home. This itinerary also had a personal advantage for me to collect more frequent flyer mileage.
