February 15, 2008 - The Radisson Hotel

When my travel agent booked me at the Dublin Airport Radisson Hotel, I thought that would be a a good thing. I would be right at the airport for my early morning flight, in the comfort of a modern hotel chain. Well, almost right.

The Radisson hotel at the airport is a tired conference hotel. The U.S. has lots of similar hotels, where the hotel is used as a centrally located meeting place. The hotel makes a thriving business from the one day conference trade and spends less on sleeping room comfort. The Dublin hotel could use some refurbishing, in my opinion.

4:30am and I was on my way home. The hotel shuttle service was prompt and I checked in at the Aer Lingus counter quickly and easily. The walk to the departure gate was another story, up and down a lot of stairs to get from one part of the terminal building to another. My heavy carry-on bag was not any lighter, so I had to bear with it. When I made my flight connection at London's Gatwick airport, it was just my luck that I landed at the south terminal there and my American flight to the U.S. left from a north terminal gate. Am I boring you with these details. My youngest son can't understand why I'm less than enthusiastic when I finally get home. First things first. I love to travel and see the world, but I also like the comforts of home.

Happy travels. I hope you enjoyed looking at my pictures. If you have questions or comments, let me hear from you.
