My top five favorite trips

worldmap.bmp

I'm often asked "Bob, what has been your favorite trip?". Until now, I guess I have given a "non-answer", saying that all my trips have had some value for me, but that seems to avoid the real question. So, with this and next few web pages, I will attempt to answer the favorite question.

The following is my "top five" list, but don't assume all my other trips are somehow inferior. It was tough leaving trip number 6 or 7 or 8 off this list. This is my favorite list, in no particular order, and subject to change over time. I'll keep you posted.

For each trip in the following list, I'll try to explain why I took the given trip, what I liked about that trip, highlight some unique experiencs and give some recommendations. If you have any comments or questions about my trips, use the feedback function on any of the web pages displayed.

I included a copy of world map with this web page, just to begin our discussion. For entry to China and Russia, I used Beijing and Valdivostok which would be in the "far east", just west of Japan, in the upper left of the map. For my river raftting trip and the "See the USA" trip, I obviously toured the U.S. as shown in the center of this map. The river rafting trip began at Flagstaff, Arizone and my "See the USA" trip began at my home in Nevada. My Antarctica trip began with a flight Argentina, at the southern tip of South America, and then a rough sail across Drake's Passage to get to Antarcticsa. More about all of this later.
