During my IBM career, I traveled to England quite often - about 75 times, if my memory serves me correctly. Because of those frequent visits, I wrote a visitor's guide to England, a copy of which can be found elsewhere on my web site.
Now that I'm semi-retired, but still working part time as a computer consultant, I find that I'm still traveling to England although not as often. This trip was a two week stay, first spending time in the Winchester area and then the second week in the Southampton area. Both are about 60 miles west, and a little south of London. I was in England from October 28 to November 9, 2000.
A frequently-used hotel in the Winchester area is the Wessex. First time visitors like it because they're able to walk to various sight seeing attractions in the town, as well as the shopping district. If a spouse or friend is along, they enjoy it also because of being 'in town'.
There are about 60 pictures for this trip. You can advance from picture to picture, go backward or forward, or end your viewing when you choose. On each display of a picture, you can click on the picture to see an enlarged view. Use your back key to return.
My first picture for this trip is one showing my (also) retired IBM friends, Bob Archambeault and Phil Emrich, standing in front of the Wessex Hotel. They attended the same meeting as I did during the first week of my visit.
