During our trip from Split to Zagreb, we passed quite a few homes along the way, that had been bombed or otherwise destroyed during the war of 1991-92. We were told that most of these homes belonged to Serbs, living in Croatia, and because of the Serbian attacks on Croatia, the Croats retaliated by destroying these homes.
Some of the Serbs returned to Croatia and have since rebuilt their homes. Others have not returned, and their one-time homes remain as shown in the photograph.
