In all my Elderhostel trips, I have never arrived at the initial trip destination without being met by a local Elderhostel representative. They have basic duties to perform, like counting the number of people expected at the given hour, and that no one has a luggage or other travel related problem. Sometimes we may have to wait a few minutes if some paarticipants are due in on a different flight. Overll, initial meetings have gone well. In one case, I was the very last to arrive and was the only person to be met, so Elderhostel sent a limo to greet me and take me to my initial hotel. What a warm feeling to be expected.
