I grew up in an ethnic neighborhood, and became aware of other nationalities at an early age. I am of Croatian descent and lived among other Slavic people, such as Slovenians. I went to school with Polish kids as well as the Slovaks and Hungarians. In part, this trip was to learn more about their roots.

This trip included visits to Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. The map shown with this page shows Poland. In addition to traveling the countryside, the primary cities visited were Warsaw in east central Poland and Krakow in the south.
