A visit to Central Europe
I have had good experiences taking trips sponsored by Elderhostel.
Elderhostel is a non-profit organization which provides education and
travel programs for senior citizens. My prior Elderhostel trips
include:
- Central Europe (Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary)
- River rafting 225 miles down the Colorado River and through the
Grand Canyon
- Visiting the major capital cities in China and sailing the
Yangtze River
- Touring the Baltic States (Lithuania, Lativa, Estonia)
- Visiting St.Petersburg and Moscow, Russia
- Touring the Scandinavian capitals (Copenhagen, Denmark; Olso,
Norway; Stockholm, Sweden; and Helsinki, Finland.
- A trip to the bottom of the world - Antarctica
- Island hopping among the Greek Islands
- A walking tour of southwestern Ireland

I grew up in an ethnic neighborhood, and became aware of other
nationalities
at an early age. I am of Croatian descent and lived among
other Slavic people, such as Slovenians. I went to school with
Polish kids as well as the Slovaks and Hungarians. In part, this trip
was to learn more about their roots.
This trip included visits to Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
The map shown with this page shows Poland. In addition to traveling
the countryside, the primary cities visited were Warsaw in east central
Poland
and Krakow in the south.
