As with most international trips, the trip begins with a plane ride, with one or more segments, to get you to your destination. This trip began for me with a short shuttle flight from Reno, Nevada to San Francisco, where I caught my overseas flight to Europe.
I have flown with Lufthansa before and I thought I would be comfortable again with the Boeing 747 scheduled for the flight. Ah, but the older 747, which was new and exciting when it first came out, is no longer as comfortable as more recent aircraft, such as the Boeing 767 or 777.
My intinerary took me to Frankfurt, Germany for a connection to Warsaw, Poland, my final destination for the day. If you have never been to Frankfurt be prepared for a very large, sprawling airport, with multiple terminal buildings, and a variety of transportation to interconnect them. Fortunately, I have been to Frankfurt previously, so finding the connecting gate was not that difficult.
