Elderhostel is a non-profit organization which provides travel and education programs for senior citizens. Christ Church, at Oxford, England, offers a lecture program focused on the subject of inteligence, which includes spies, code breaking, technology and other related subjects. Elderhostel chose to offer a program which provided enrollment for the Oxford program.
Elderhostel received 125 enrollments for its "Spies, Lies and Intelligence" program, and combined with non-Elderhostel enrollments, the attendance at the Fall 2006 program was approximately 250 people. A bit too many, in my opinion.
The Elderhostel participation in the combined program began at London, for several days, and then migrated to Oxford, for the seven day remainder of the program. In addition to lecture sessions, several field trips were included, visiting Winston Churchill's so-called "war rooms" at London, and intelligence-related sites at Chicksands and Bletchley.
