The Hotel Ukraina was a grand hotel when it first opened in the 1950s, but there has been little improvement since then. The rooms show their age, both in decor and furnishings. The most notable discomfort was the lack of air conditioning. The weather during our July visit was hot and humid. Even opening the large window did not bring the desired comfort. Ah, the trials and tribulations of the globe trotter.
Being a very large hotel, it was very crowded, at breakfast and as busses loaded each morning for each group to continue on its journey.
