July 9, 2003 - Tallin to St.Petersburg, Russia

This day was a virtual loss. Getting from Tallinn, Estonia to St. Petersburg, Russia took about six hours by bus, plus the wait time getting across the border. So, breakfast at 7AM, pack our bags by 8AM, and board the bus at 9AM. It was late afternoon when we arrived at St.Petersburg.

It turned out to be a rainy, drizzly, cloudy, gray day, so if the weather had to go bad on us, today was probably the best day for that. Had we been in one town or another, our touring would have been affected by the weather.

During the day today, I tried to sit in the very front row of the bus so as to get some pictures of the countyside, but that didn't work out. First of all, there wasn't much to see and photograph except the rural countryside of Estonia and Russia, and the bus windshield was wet most of the time anyway.

This photo shows us at the Russian border waiting to get through customs. After the two hour wait getting into Estonia, we expected the worst, but to our surprise, getting out of Estonia and into Russia turned out to be pretty fast.
