June 25, 2003 - Nevada to Europe

Obviously, a trip to Europe begins with one or more plane rides, and this trip was no different. Flying anywhere from my home in the Reno, Nevada area usually means a connection of some kind and with no surprise to me, that was the case for this trip.

I had to fly Reno to Phoenix to Frankfurt, Germany as the first part of my journey. I left Nevada on June 25th and spent the night of June 26th in Frankfurt. This arrangement was made by Elderhostel such that on June 27th, I would fly from Frankfurt to Vilnius, Lithuania with other participants of this Elderhostel trip.

When you add up the time waiting for flights, the flight times, baggage handling, hotel shuttles, and such, it was something like 20 hours to get from my home to the Frankfurt hotel. Frankfurt to Vilnius was a much shorter day.
