I have traveled the world over, visiting at least forty countries. Now, in semi-retirement, I have been booking international trips with Elderhostel, a non-profit organization which provides education and travel programs for senior citizens. My prior Elderhostel trips include:

I have visited England about eighty (80) times, and took side trips to Wales and Scotland. But somehow I never managed to get over to Ireland and experience the countryside so many of my friends talked about. This trip was made in part to make up for that omission, and see the Irish countryside firsthand by walking through its southland.

Click on the map shown here to see an enlarged view. My visit began/ended via the Shannon airport, located just north of Limerick, shown in the west center of the map. Later I spent time at Ennis, just north of Shannon, and Killarney, directly south of Shannon. I also toured the area west of Killarney known as the Ring of Kerry (Kerry being the county).
