Early this morning, I ventured to the northern side of downtown area of Copenhagen to view and pay my respects to the Little Mermaid. I mentioned earlier that of the four Scandinavian countries I had only been to Denmark previously. I enjoyed my visit to the park-like area where the Mermaid statue is located and enjoyed my second visit there. I didn't see a visit to the statue on the group's agenda so I made this morning's visit a special one for me.
The morning sun is on the statue's back so even with a flash, getting a good photograph is a tough thing to do. The statue is viewed by thousands each year, but sadly along the way, the statue has been vandalized.. On one occasion her head was cut off (later retrieved by the police) and on another occasion the statue was doused with paint. Why does the world have such people....?
