Herakleion is the capital of Crete and is centrally located on the north side of the island. While at Crete, in addition to our having activities and field trips within and around the city, our group also took trips to the southern coast of Crete and cities in western Crete.
Our hotel at Herakleion was certainly the largest and most modern of the hotels our group stayed at. The rooms were modern and comfortable, as was the hotel's dining room and other public areas. The only negative about the hotel was that it was off the main streets and in the minds of some, in an unattractive area.
