The first order of business on arrival at a foreign destination is to go through passport control, but apparently Greece and the Athens airport have adopted a very, very open policy about people entering their country - no passport control. So, onto to baggage claim.
This being an Elderhostel trip for me, I expected to see others with EH baggage tags at either the start or end of the flight, but as it worked out there were few, most trip particpants having arrived much earlier in the day. Keep in mind, I left San Francisco on Sunday and landed at Athens on Monday.
An Elderhostel representative met us at baggage claim and soon we were on a bus headed into city center and our hotel.
