February 2, 2007 - The QE2 visits Tahiti

Another day, another excusion. We left Tahiti by car ferry for a two day visit to Moorea, a nearby island. We knew the Queen Elizabeth cruise ship came to port last night and one of our local guides told us how coordinated the city is to handle the huge volume of people which all of sudden descended on its infrastructure. Hotels, transportation, restaurants, etc, etc, are somewhat automatically alerted to the temporary population explosion.

Anyway, as our car ferry boat pulled out of the harbor, we all had a close up look at the QE2. It's a fine ship but it has been in service now for a few years and the hull looked as though it could use some new paint. But for the passengers on board, how often to they see the hull of the ship?
