In addition to the major airlines, the Cook and Polynesian Islands also have a number of smaller airlines which serve the islands more locally. During my trip to the area I flew Air Tahiti several times, and on this day our group flew with Air Rarotonga to the island of Aitutaki. Each of my inter-island flights was on a new aircraft, with many of the same procedures and services as the big airlines.
One thing that was noticeably different here in the islands, in contrast to flying in the U.S., was the absence of "home security". There was no identity cheking, no passing through metal detectors and so on. And non-passengers could mingle with ticketed passengers right up to the departure gates. What a nice journey into the past.
