January 23, 2007 - Tropical fish lecture

During my trip, there were educational lectures each day. Some days there were two or three lectures. Elderhostel's mission is to provide education and travel for senior citizens, so each day had something of an educational nature.

I haven't and won't mention all the lectures we heard but I will single out a few, such as this one on the subject of tropical fish. Can you imagine a talk about tropical fish that did not include showing pictures of some kind to support the talk? Well, this presenter came well prepared with pictures on his laptop and projected using an LCD projector. Well doen, and thanks.

Some lecturers came with no handouts, no visuals, and no apparent skill at presenting to a live audience. One speaker came with visuals(?) such as paper bags on which various unreadable notes were written with a marking pen. Sad.

Anyway, this visual presentation was quite good and quite colorful, as you might imagine. The talk gave me encouragement that on my new snorkeling attempt maybe I could capture similar pictures with the underwater camera I purchaed before the trip. No such luck, as it worked out.
