January 22, 2007 - Island medicine

Our presenter did a good job of explaining how common plants have provided medicinal value to the island people over the years. What I'm still curious about was how the people first discovered that plants had any medicinal value.

Not only were plant remedites discussed at the Village, but usage was mentioned by other tour guides during our visit to Rarotonga. For instance, our guide a the bird conservation area offered us some of his "home brew" insect repellent before we began our walking tour of the jungle-like area.
