I think our group was a bit surprised at the next stop along our city bus tour, but unusual as it might be, it proved to be an interesting visit. The cemetary and mausoleums at La Recoleta are very elaborate (and expensive to maintain). The dearly departed must have been rich as well as dearly because the typical monthly maintenance fee for a tomb at Recoleta is approximately $3500 USD. And you thought a cemetary plot might be expensive?
