I always caution others, especially first time overseas travelers, not to expect things to be as they were back home. Hotel accomodations can be quite basic in some countries and perhaps grand in other countries. I found Central Europe hotels to be pretty basic but hotels in China quite grand. Our hotel in downtown Buenos Aires was quite acceptable as shown by the room photo here. I thought our short stay at the Elevage Hotel was pleasant and would stay there again. It certainly was in the heart of things, close to shopping, restaurants, tourist sights, etc.
