As experience a traveler as I might be, I always get tense when it comes time to go catch a flight to somewhere. Especially when I'm not in complete control of my circumstances. By this I mean, being dependent on a taxi or other transportation to get me to the airport on time.
Well, my apartment manager arranged for someone to take me to the airport and that all went well. I had plenty of time to check my bags, get a boarding pass, and spend some of my excess Croatian kuna (I bought music CDs).
I stayed overnight at Frankfurt, Germany because I could not make a connection on this day. Frankfurt is not a user friendly airport, very large, very confusing, etc. After trial and error I found the Sheraton and got comfortably situated for the night. Being an American Airline platinum flyer, and flying business class, I went to the head of the line, so to speak, the following morning and got checked in for my overseas flight, Frankfurt to Dallas, where I would clear customs and proceed to my final destination of Reno, Nevada. I'm glad I'm platinum because the economy lines at check-in were huge, and I hate waiting in those kind of lines.
My flight to Dallas went well, but on arrival I found that my two bags didn't make it. I filed a claim and two days later my bags were delivered to my home. End of journey.
