March 31, 2007 - Dubrovnik - Pearl of the Adriatic

I love to travel. My mother introduced me to travel when I was just five years old, and I have been traveling ever since. I have been to over 45 countries around the world, and on at least one occasion, I traveled around the world.

In recent years I have begun to document my travels, so that I could remember where I went and what I saw. I'm now in the habit of doing this for virtually every trip I take. If you would like to see some of my travel pictures and read the text I have written for those pictures click here.

This trip focuses on Dubrovnik, Croatia's crown jewel. Dubrovnik is located at the very southern tip of Croatia, as shown on the map displayed with this page. Italy is on the western side of the Adriatic Sea. Dubrovnik translates to "oak forest", probably with respect to the ship building that occurred here centuries ago

I first visited Dubrovnik in 2001 and fell in love with the city. Being of Croatian descent, I made myself a promise to visit again and learn more about the city, the people and more about the country. I decided the proper way to learn more about a location is to spend more time there, so this trip is a beginning for me, initially spending a full month at Dubrovnik with an intent to come back still again. I hope you enjoy viewing my pictures and reading my text. If you have comments or questions, please use the feedback function on each page of this photo journal for Dubrovnik.
